Laughs, Heart, and Roommate Rivalry in Tipping Point Theatre's Production of 'Ripcord'
Northville, MI - How far would you go to win the bed by the window? For rival roommates at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, the sky's the limit. Tipping Point Theatre presents David Lindsay-Abaire’s comedic play, Ripcord, running March 22nd – April 22nd. Tickets are on sale now.
Abby has lived a solitary life in her top-floor room at Bristol Place. Her abrasive personality makes sure that every roommate assigned to her leaves within the first month, which is just how she likes it. But Marilyn will be a tougher nut to crack. She’s optimistic, happy and unaffected by Abby’s attitude. Determined to gain control and win her personal space back, Abby turns up the heat by proposing a bet between the ladies that proves you’re never too old to learn new tricks.
The comedy of Ripcord isn’t all the show has to offer to audiences. “As the play progresses, the characters’ secrets are revealed, adding a more personal layer to the rivalry.” Director James R. Kuhl says. “That is the beauty of the show. It is a script that can be hilarious and quirky, but also have a great deal of heart at the same time.”
The show is generously sponsored by John Bebes of Plante Moran. A professional theatre, Tipping Point employs over 90 Michigan artists each year, and receives support from patrons, donors, businesses and other organizations. "Audiences from all over Southeast Michigan have been supporting us for 11 seasons because we consistently provide a fantastic experience. Whether it's a date, couples night or group outing, Tipping Point presents high-quality, professional performances by some of the most talented artists in the state," said Dan Ferrara, Tipping Point's Director of Development. "The theatre draws adults of all ages into an environment where they can be immersed in entertainment for a couple hours with no distractions - something that's nearly impossible anywhere else these days."
Opening night is March 24th, with preview performances Thursday, March 22nd and Friday, March 23rd. The curtain rises at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, with matinees at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. There is a special Wednesday matinee performance on April 4th at 3 p.m. Discounted group tickets are available by contacting Tipping Point Theatre.
