Exploring humanity in its truest form can only be made in a space where artists feel safe enough to share their vulnerability. Tipping Point Theatre dedicates itself to creating a space where artists have the ability to grow and learn without fear of failure; A space that is free of judgement; A space that provides resources for artists to develop their craft. An artist who is protected, creates beautiful art. Beautiful art promotes empathy in our audiences.
EMPOWER
The world needs more badass artists, and we commit to lifting each other up to that level. Tipping Point is focused on fostering resilient, confident artists that use their voice where it matters most. We will push ourselves to take artistic risks and to not accept limitations, but find new freedoms. We will find power through mutual accountability of our actions, truth telling, and not letting fear control what we do. An artist who is challenged, creates bolder art. Bolder art inspires change within our society.
SUSTAIN
Our theatre community has a history of underpaying and over working our employees. We uphold the fact that artwork is work and we are committed to bringing a living wage and a healthier work/life balance to our industry. We are working to dismantle the ‘starving artist’ mentality while maintaining fiscal responsibility within the organization. An artist who is financially stable, creates richer art. Richer art creates a profitable community.
ADAPT
Tipping Point Theatre is committed to finding solutions to perceived limitations through creative problem solving to shift an ‘either/or’ mindset to a ‘yes, and…’ mindset. An artist without limitations creates innovative art. Innovative art cultivates new audiences.
EQUITY
Tipping Point believes that a person’s greatest asset is that they are unique. We are committed to representation, equality and inclusion in all of our work. We recognize that equal treatment does not always create an equitable result. Therefore, Tipping Point will strive to ensure equitable access to resources and honor each individual’s needs. We will create an environment where all artistic voices are respected and valued. Artistic and organizational decisions will be made with transparency through collective power sharing.
