Wiley, who lives in the Alabama swamps with his loving conjure-woman mother, fears the ugly Hairy Man. Yet he still heads into the swamp with his faithful hound dogs to confront his fears head-on, outwit the monster and learn some valuable life lessons. This show is from an Old South folktale for the Federal Writers’ Project of the Works Progress Administration during America’s Great Depression. It is also a Joseph Jefferson Award winner for Outstanding Children’s Play and is appropriate for children ages 5
and up.
