Sisterhood is at the core of this dark comedy that won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics’ Award for Best American Play. Babe Magrath has shot her senator husband in the stomach and doesn’t want to tell her lawyer why. Despite being part of a family in which dysfunction and sometimes tragedy are the norm, Babe and her sisters, Lenny and Meg, reunite at the old family home in Hazlehurst, Mississippi during this latest turmoil to work through old rivalries, jealousies and disappointments and prove that even in the worst of times a girl can always count on her sisters to help pick up the pieces.
