Development Director

The Tipping Point Theatre, a professional regional theatre and 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization seeks a full time Development Director to work closely with the Producing Artistic Director and Board of Directors.


Roles and Responsibilities

Generate income for annual operations via all possible foundation, corporate and individual donor support along with other avenues of fundraising.  Cultivate and solicit major gifts.  Research foundation, corporate and government grant opportunities as well as preparing thorough grant proposals.  Cultivate and obtain season and special event sponsorships.  Help create a strategic plan to support Tipping Point’s fundraising goals and needs (i.e. 1 year, 5 year).  Plan and oversee fundraising events.  Maintain donor database.  Work with TPT staff; report to TPT Board of Directors and Producing Artistic Director (PAD).


Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate leadership, independence, integrity and strong communication skills
  • Deliver presentations, speeches, solicitations with precision and authenticity
  • Acknowledge gifts and donations in a timely manner
  • Community involvement/participation (as determined)
  • Assist PAD and Marketing Director with donor information pertaining to business/marketing needs and materials to be distributed (as needed/determined)
  • Continue professional development

Season-long Apprenticeship

Tipping Point Theatre is now accepting resumes for an open position in our apprenticeship program. Applicants must have a college degree or seeking a degree in theatre or a related field.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an Apprentice you will be fully immersed in the theatre’s management, artistic, and marketing teams; while having a direct influence on the development of a professional theatre company. This is a fantastic learning opportunity for young professionals to network and work with established local artists on various projects throughout your time with Tipping Point. This program will provide invaluable contacts while developing your resume. Because of the integral role Apprentices play within the organization, apprenticeships are tailored to individual strengths and interests with an emphasis on investing in the future of the apprentice. During your apprenticeship you will work as Box Office Staff, Assistant Stage Manager, Light & Sound Board Operator, and House Manager among other duties and responsibilities. Professional opportunities are also available for those who are interested.

A weekly stipend of $250 will be offered to help offset living expenses.
